The project “Cross-border Environmental Initiative” implementing by FORS Montenegro was presented at press conference in Nikšić, on February 17, 2021.
Within the project “YOUth drive”, funded by the European Union, video education of primary and secondary school students from the West Herzegovina Canton was organized. This type of education covers all the most important topics about the importance and significance of environmental protection, and about proper waste management.
The opportunity to hear the voice of young eco-activists from Jablanica came through the participation of the Primary School “Suljo Čilić” in the project “Joint Efforts for 5% Less Waste – 5% LESS”, funded by the European Union. The students of the mentioned Primary School recorded a video through which they want to send a strong message about the world they want to live in.
The European Union supports capacity building on EU standards for water supply for employees of the public administration in Rogatica and Kolašin.
The online training was completed on 16the December 2020. The 4-day training increased capacities of 20 staff of municipalities and water supply companies, which will improve the operating standards in water supply in the two municipalities.
One of activities within the project “Joint Efforts for 5% Less Waste” funded by the European Union, is to encourage young people to get more involved in environment protection and change their perspective on how to treat it properly. Thus, students, eco-poets and five primary schools from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro wrote an ecological poet and recorded a video, in order to send a strong message about the need to return nature to their own backyards, schools and lives.
As part of the cross-border cooperation project funded by the European Union, an online Conference on Energy and Water Efficiency of Water Supply Services in the Cross-Border Area of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro was held on October 22 and 23, 2020. It was the first of three planned conferences, aimed at promoting EU standards, policies, and practices to increase water and energy efficiency in the water supply sector in the cross-border area between BiH and Montenegro.
The Mayors of the Municipalities of Foča (BiH) and Plužine (Montenegro) signed a mutual agreement on cooperation in the field of protection and rescue within the project “Tourism, Adrenaline and Rafting Adventure (T.A.R.A.), financed by the European Union.” The agreement was signed between these municipalities, as well as between the National Park Sutjeska and the Nature Park Piva, all with the aim of improving the security of this cross-border area.
The modernization of the museums in Nikšić and Jablanica is being realized within the project of cross-border cooperation „Amusing Museums” financed by the European Union. With virtual reality technology, visitors will be able to travel into the past.
Within the project “Joint efforts for 5% Less Waste”, the Municipality of Šavnik received a specialized combined machine for waste reduction in the amount of 70,000 EUR.
On the occasion of the delivery of specialized combined machine, in the Municipality of Šavnik, Mayor, Vlatko Vuković pointed out that solid waste management for years one of the major problems not only in the municipality of Šavnik, but is one of the main problems of Montenegro, and that the realization of this project will greatly contribute to solving the problems in this municipality.
On Saturday, August 1, the Municipalities of Foča and Plužine organized the first international mountain race “PP PIVA – NP SUTJESKA TRAIL” with the support of the European Union which gathered runners from seven European countries. More than 100 participants from BiH, Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, UK and France competed in the 42km Strike (Marathon) category and the 25km Proletarian (Challenger) category, as well as in the 12km and 4km categories.
Twenty-three people from Herzegovina and the border areas of Montenegro have successfully completed the training and passed the exam for certified guides according to the ‘Interpret Europe’ methodology within the cross-border cooperation project “Amusing Museums – aMUSeumING” funded by the European Union.
Yesterday, as a part of the “Tourism, Adrenaline and Rafting Adventure (T.A.R.A)” Project, the municipalities of Foca (BiH) and Pluzine (Montenegro) organized 30 June 2020 a coordination meeting for members of their rescue services (civil protection, police, health institutions, fire services and associations, protection and rescue services, Mountain Rescue Service), where measures, standards and modern safety trends at tourist sites, risk management and rescue on water and under water were discussed.
The cross-border cooperation project “Amusing Museums – aMUSeumING” organizes training for twelve accommodation service providers from Herzegovina and the border areas of Montenegro in order to raise the quality of their work and connect accommodation facilities and museums.
Within the cross-border project, financed by EU, the employees of the Public Utility Company “Vrela Seljani” in Rogatica, on 8th of June started 10-day-training on detection of defects on water supply network.
Eight schools in the West Herzegovina County have received 8 projectors and 8 tablets which will facilitate access to online teaching for students in the West Herzegovina County. The equipment worth 7.600 EUR is provided by the European Union under the project contributing to raising awareness among young people on the proper disposal of waste and environmental protection.
Twenty persons from Herzegovina and border areas of Montenegro will have the opportunity to attend the training and become certified guides to the Interpret Europe methodology as part of the cross-border cooperation project “Amusing Museums – aMUSeumING”.
Thanks to the support of the European Union, POWER is launching a campaign called “5 to 12” (five to twelve), will take place from 7 to 30 April 2020, which aime is raising public awareness of the right of persons with disabilities to work and employment.

he first job fair for persons with disabilities held in the premises of Arena Sport Center in Mostar today to promote the right for work and employment of persons with disabilities in accordance with the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities. The fair was organized within the project POWER, funded by the European Union through the IPA II cross-border cooperation program Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
Campaign „Who are you and what is your right?“ implementing in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, aims to raise public awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities, with emphasis on the right to work and employment.
Eleven persons with disabilities, who are engaged as interns in 11 different companies in BiH, will get mentors soon, who will work with them next 12 months and monitor and advise them on their working place. Training for mentors was held in the period from 16 to 18 January in Potoci, near Mostar, within the POWER project financed by European Union. Mentors are employees of the companies where the people with disabilities got the opportunity for internship and they will be a link between employer, trainee and project itself.
About 40 persons with disabilities from BiH and Montenegro will receive training in beekeeping, which will enable them in running their own business and mutual association, within the project “People with disabilities – leaders in beekeeping”.
